Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Principal Inspector to lead construction inspection activities in Washington, DC, supervising staff and coordinating field operations. This role ensures compliance with plans, specs and safety policies while liaising with clients and agencies.

The position requires 8+ years of experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and client-approved certifications. Immigration sponsorship is not available, except for qualified TN visa candidates; salary

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
• Knowledge and experience in construction techniques, reading plans, procedures, methods, equipment and materials.
• Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards.
• Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project.
• Draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues on behalf of the Client.
• Review and maintain pertinent project documentation detailing construction progress, environmental permitting, safety, and DBE/EEO progress.
• Prepare, review and submit project inspection reports, work authorizations, and estimates.
• Notify contractor of non-compliance and corrective action.
• Attend pre-bid/pre-construction/management meetings and support change orders.
• Interact with public agencies, contractors, and other parties to respond to inquiries.
