Essex-Property-Trust is seeking a Principal Trainer, Learning & Development for our Irvine Regional Office. This senior role delivers engaging in-person and live virtual training across functions, partnering with business leaders and L&D colleagues to enhance associates' knowledge and performance.

• Train-the-trainer or facilitation coaching experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Zoom/MS Teams; LMS familiarity.
• Spanish language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging in-person and live virtual learning for associates across functions and levels.
• Adapt delivery, pace, activities, and examples to the audience while managing group dynamics.
• Use discussions, scenarios, role plays, demonstrations, and breakout sessions to engage learners.
• Collaborate with SMEs to translate complex information into practical learning.
• Partner with the Senior Learning Experience Designer to improve clarity and delivery.
• Develop facilitator resources and job aids when design support is limited.
• Coordinate program objectives, audiences, schedules, and delivery expectations with the Program Manager.
• Manage training logistics (rooms, invites, equipment, communications).
• Gather learner feedback and coach others on facilitation practices.
• Travel to Essex locations as needed (up to 20%) and perform other duties as assigned.

The role helps associates build the knowledge and skills needed to perform effectively.The Principal Trainer partners with business leaders, subject matter experts, and L&D colleagues, including the Sr. Learning Experience Designer on instructional design and the Program Manager on intake, planning, and coordination.WHAT YOU WILL DO:Facilitate engaging in-person and live virtual learning for associates across functions and levels.Adapt delivery, pace, activities, and examples to the audience while managing group dynamics and learner needs.Use discussions, scenarios, role plays, demonstrations, and breakout sessions to support engagement and application.Build subject matter knowledge and translate complex information into clear, practical learning with subject matter experts.Partner with the Senior Learning Experience Designer to improve clarity, engagement, and ease of delivery.Develop or adapt straightforward presentations, facilitator resources, activities, and job aids when extensive design support is not required.Partner with the Program Manager on program objectives, audiences, schedules, and delivery expectations.Logistics for training sessions such as but not limited to: room reservations (physical or virtual), calendar invites, participant communications, rental equipment if required, additional supplies readiness.Gather learner feedback, support train-the-trainer efforts, and coach others on effective facilitation practices.Travel to Essex locations as needed to deliver training and support L&D initiatives. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
