Essex Property Trust is seeking an Investment Management Analyst to support Facilities, Construction Execution, Design, Commercial, and Ancillary Income teams. You will build Power BI dashboards, perform financial analyses, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting with data-driven insights.

The role emphasizes data storytelling and presenting findings to Senior Management, with collaboration across departments and a focus on process improvements.

Qualifications

  • 2–4+ years of experience in data analytics, real estate, or FP&A.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, especially Power BI; strong Excel and SQL skills.
  • Ability to develop financial models and present insights to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and insights for business partners.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling to support decisions.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, this individual will focus on data analysis, financial and operational insights, and process improvements, becoming a key contributor to the annual budget process. Power BI skills are essential, with an emphasis on contributing to data visualization initiatives and independently managing projects that enhance departmental efficiencies and add value across the division.WHAT YOU WILL DO:Data Visualization (Power BI)Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations that provide operational and financial insights to business partners.Assist with enhancing existing reporting tools and implementing improvements to data visualization solutions.Ensure reporting accuracy through data validation and quality assurance processes.Operational and Financial Data AnalysisAssess business performance through KPIs and operational metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.Conduct in-depth financial analyses, evaluating performance against budget, and contributing to forecasting with insights on opportunities and risks.Cross-Functional Partnership and InfluenceWork collaboratively with the Data Platform team to define data requirements, recommend calculation methodologies, and contribute to data architecture improvements.Serve as a partner to internal departments, fostering a collaborative approach to achieving key objectives and sharing insights across the business.Storytelling and PresentationDevelop and deliver impactful presentations to Senior Management, transforming complex data findings into compelling narratives that support strategic decision-making.Emphasize the use of data storytelling to drive understanding, alignment, and action.Budgeting and Earnings SupportProvide contributions to the annual budgeting process, delivering detailed financial analysis and scenario modeling to support decision-making.Support monthly reporting with data insights, performance metrics, and predictive modeling.Financial Modeling and UnderwritingBuild and maintain financial models under the guidance of senior team members.Support underwriting, investment analysis, and scenario modeling activities as needed.All Other Tasks AssignedEmbrace flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, taking on additional tasks as necessary to support the team and organization.AI (Artificial Intelligence) remains a focus of the organization. This position may be required to learn and support AI initiatives for the departments as needed.WHAT YOU WILL NEED:Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in data analytics, business, finance, or economics.2-4+ years of experience in data analytics, real estate, or financial planning & analysis.Experience and familiarity with data visualization tools, particularly Power BI; strong skills in data modeling, Excel (including Power Query), and SQL.WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:Work is primarily conducted in an office setting. Requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.Requires the ability to work Monday through Friday. Entails in-person office requirements consistent with the Company’s hybrid policy, located at Essex's corporate offices in Irvine, Woodland Hills, San Mateo, and Bellevue.Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
