Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Principal Telecommunications Engineer will troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, focusing on WAN, SONET, and MPLS technologies, with expertise in designing and deploying enterprise WANs and IEC-61850 networks for critical utility systems. Knowledge of NERC CIP and NIST standards is essential.

Responsibilities include:

1. Designing and deploying WANs for mission-critical environments.
2. Troubleshooting advanced routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SONET.
3. Developing network automation systems for utilities.
4. Designing LAN solutions, IEC-61850 networks, and deploying network management systems.
5. Implementing SONET and MPLS infrastructures and programming Siemens switches and routers.
6. Ensuring compliance with NERC CIP and NIST standards.
7. Providing expert support for enterprise WANs and mentoring junior engineers.
8. Maintaining documentation of network designs and compliance processes.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in routing and switching, expertise in SONET, MPLS, and advanced protocols.
• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
• Proven troubleshooting skills and experience with WAN and LAN design, IEC-61850 networks.
• Experience with network management systems and regulatory standards.
• Strong analytical, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
