Job summary

DEFTEC Corporation seeks a Principal Technician (Digital Collaboration) in Norfolk, VA to provide reliable VTC and A/V support across the NATO enterprise, including VIP conferencing with global teams. Required is an active NATO SECRET clearance and 5+ years in VTC/A/V roles, with hands-on installation, maintenance, and incident management experience.

Qualifications

  • Active NATO SECRET security clearance.
  • At least 5 years' relevant experience as a VTC and A/V Technician.
  • Experience in planning, installing or maintaining audio/visual equipment and related systems.
  • Experience with VIP conference support and translating requirements into service delivery.
  • Experience in customer service and incident management.

Responsibilities

  • Support VTC and A/V services per SLAs within the CSU and NATO framework;
  • Coordinate with front office staff to provide VIP VTC facilitator services to FOGOs and HQ staff;
  • Collaborate with SACT CISOPS to establish VIP conference requirements and manage delivery;
  • Assist the NATO-wide VTC Network Operations Centre to ensure seamless service across the enterprise;
  • Travel to NATO locations as required and support the NCI Agency presence in North America.

POSITION OVERVIEW

DEFTEC Corporation is seeking a Principal Technician (Digital Collaboration) professional to provide reliable VTC and A/V support across the NATO enterprise, including VIP conferencing and coordination with global military and civilian teams. Additional responsibilities include maintaining critical infrastructure and providing on‑site technical expertise to ensure seamless, mission‑focused service delivery.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support the VTC and audio/visual (VTC and A/V) services provided by the CSU in accordance with extant service level agreements and other formal service provisioning arrangements;
  • Coordinate directly with the relevant front office staff to provide VIP level VTC facilitator services to FOGOs and HQ staffs;
  • Coordinate with customer SACT CISOPS to establish requirements for VIP conference support (i.e. VTC and A/V), translate that requirement into agreed service provisioning in accordance with the extant service level agreement and manage the delivery of the agreed services;
  • Support the Agency's VTC Network Operations Centre to ensure seamless service delivery across the NATO enterprise and, as required, function as the Agency's gateway for establishing VTCs between the NATO enterprise and external customers in N. America with a particular focus operational VTCs between the USN afloat assets and afloat assets from the other Allies;
  • Support the Team Lead as the alternate CIS point of contact (POC) for VTC and A/V asset management and provide first & second line support for the managed assets in accordance with service agreements and applicable support contracts throughout the CSU Norfolk area of geographic responsibility (AoGR);
  • Support NCIA NDW VTC Engineers to maintain of NATO WIDE VTC Infrastructure systems, support the team as field engineer, whenever required to update or replace obsolete subsystems;
  • Function as the NCI Agency point of presence in North America for all VTC and A/V services including the supporting the management of industry contracts;
  • Liaise with the Agency's VTC Network Operations Centre to ensure seamless service delivery across the NATO enterprise and, as required, function as the Agency's gateway for establishing VTCs between the NATO enterprise and external customers in N. America with a particular focus operational VTCs between the USN afloat assets and afloat assets from the other Allies;
  • Perform other duties, including travel to other NATO locations, as may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
  • Active NATO SECRET security clearance
  • At least 5 years' relevant experience as a VTC and Audio Visual Technician;
  • Practical experience in planning, installing or maintaining audio/visual equipment and their associated voice or data terminal, line and routing equipment;
  • Experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of Audio/Visual and simultaneous interpretation equipment;
  • Experience in a customer service support environment;
  • Experience in a problem and incident management.
  • Should be able to lift items up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certified;
  • Polycom Certified Videoconferencing Engineer (PCVE) Certified;
  • Info Comm AV Installation Level 1: System Fabrication;
  • NATO HD Video Tele Conferencing Facilitator (VTC HD);
  • Working knowledge of Crestron / Extron Control Units.
