DEFTEC Corporation in Colorado Springs seeks a highly experienced Subject Matter and Technical Expert for construction projects supporting USSPACECOM. You will lead and manage the construction process, liaising with USACE, AFCEC, and other directorates to ensure mission requirements are met across design, construction, and equipment integration.

The role requires 12+ years managing multi-year large-scale Electrical, Civil or Structural projects with DoD standards familiarity.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of mid to senior-level experience managing highly complex, multi-year Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with DoD construction standards and MILCON processes and with USACE management structure.
  • Master's degree or professional registration/license in engineering or architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver program status presentations to military officers and civilians in mission-centric offices.
  • Support meetings with executives of Federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Advise on facility construction planning and management across USSACEOM Directorates and external partners.
  • Act as liaison between USSPACECOM and Government construction managers to address mission requirements.
  • Serve as trusted senior engineering advisor for all construction projects in the local command.
  • Highlight urgent matters to staff promptly.
  • Develop Course of Action briefings for senior leaders during planning.
  • Develop execution schedules and track against baselines.
  • Coordinate with Resource Manager to meet spend plans.
  • Support recurring progress updates to senior leaders and track scope, schedule, and cost changes.

POSITION OVERVIEW

DEFTEC Corporation is seeking a motivated Subject Matter and Technical Expert for construction projects for the United States Space Command (USSPACECOM). Serve as a customer representative and technical expert to lead and manage the construction process by liaising with the United States Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), USSPACECOM Joint directorates, functional components, and service components.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver presentations on program status, accomplishments, problems, and requirements for support, and promotion of program objectives to military officers and civilians in other mission-centric offices of the Command, agencies, and Services
  • Support meetings with executives of other Federal, state, and local agencies
  • Advise and assist with facility construction planning and management tasks coordinating internally and across other USSACECOM Directorates and external mission partners
  • Act as a liaison between USSPACECOM and the Government construction managers (e.g., U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, or others), mission operations entities and internal and external stakeholders to ensure mission requirements are addressed in all phases of facility project design, construction, and mission equipment integration
  • Serves as a trusted senior engineering advisor for all construction projects within the local command
  • Ensure that urgent matters are highlighted to the staff at the division/chief or designee level promptly.
  • Develop Course of Action briefings for senior leaders during project planning
  • Develop execution schedule, track against the baseline, and identify execution issues
  • Coordinate with Resource Manager to meet USSC-driven spend plan
  • Support recurring progress updates to senior leaders and track scope, schedule, and cost changes
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of mid to senior-level experience with subject matter experience in managing highly complex, multi-year $1M to $1B Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with DoD construction standards and processes and with USACE management structure and MILCON execution
  • Master's degree or professional registration/license in engineering or architecture
