Job summary

Community Health Systems seeks an experienced Principal Technology Engineer to provide enterprise-wide technical leadership for technology engineering initiatives. You will guide modernization efforts, establish engineering best practices, and ensure scalable, secure solutions aligned with long-term business strategy.

You will partner with architecture and IT leadership to drive strategic initiatives, oversee Data Center networking, and lead modernization programs across multiple domains

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Software Engineering preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in technology engineering or IT solution development.
• Healthcare enterprise experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide enterprise technology leadership for strategy, governance, and architecture alignment of Data Center networking.
• Lead design, engineering, implementation, and modernization of Data Center network solutions.
• Define engineering standards, reference architectures, and automation practices for efficiency, resiliency, and security.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture and IT leadership to prioritize and deliver strategic technology initiatives.
• Collaborate across Cloud, Security, Compute, Storage, Virtualization, and Infrastructure Services to ensure integrated solutions.
• Architect and support Cisco ACI, Nexus platforms, Nexus Dashboard, and Data Center fabrics.
• Design and maintain Layer 2/3 networks using VXLAN, EVPN, BGP, OSPF, VRFs, vPC, multicast.
• Lead modernization initiatives, infrastructure refreshes, migrations, and strategic transformations.
• Develop automation strategies using APIs, IaC, and configuration management to improve consistency.
• Mentor engineers, promote continuous improvement, and provide escalation support during major incidents.
• Maintain awareness of evolving networking technologies and best practices.
