Job description

About the Role

At Squarespace, we believe great talent experiences help people do their best work. We're looking for a Principal Talent Management Partner to help shape how we support performance, growth, careers, and development across the company.

This is a builder role with end-to-end ownership of our Talent Management portfolio, including performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, career development, internal mobility, skills, and future talent initiatives. You'll connect these programs into simple, scalable experiences that help employees grow, managers lead effectively, and the business make better talent decisions.

Working closely with People Business Partners, leaders, and cross-functional teams, you'll turn strategy into action - designing and delivering programs, facilitating critical talent conversations, using data to improve our approach, and leveraging AI and technology to modernize how talent experiences are delivered.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, brings structure to complex ideas, and is equally energized by shaping strategy and making it happen.

What You'll Do
Own and evolve our talent experience
  • Lead and continuously evolve Squarespace's Talent Management portfolio across performance, talent reviews, succession, careers, internal mobility, skills, and emerging talent priorities.
  • Design connected, scalable experiences that support employee growth, manager effectiveness, and business performance.
  • Bring fresh thinking and practical ideas to how we develop talent and prepare for the future of work.
Shape the future of performance
  • Evolve performance management toward a continuous experience centered on feedback, coaching, accountability, and development.
  • Design experiences that fit naturally into the flow of work and make meaningful feedback part of everyday conversations.
  • Create practical frameworks, resources, and tools that help managers lead performance and career conversations with confidence.
  • Use workforce insights, employee feedback, and program metrics to proactively identify opportunities, measure impact, and continuously improve the talent experience.
Lead strategy through execution
  • Lead complex initiatives from strategy and design through implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage roadmaps, project plans, stakeholder alignment, governance, and delivery across multiple priorities and programs.
  • Drive change that is thoughtful, practical, and easy for employees and managers to adopt.
Partner, communicate, and influence
  • Serve as a trusted Talent Management partner to People Business Partners, leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders, providing expertise, guidance, and practical recommendations.
  • Build strong relationships and influence through expertise, collaboration, thoughtful recommendations, and data-informed insights.
  • Develop clear communications, presentations, toolkits, and enablement resources that help employees and managers understand, adopt, and get value from our talent programs.
  • Translate complex talent concepts and data into clear, compelling, and actionable insights tailored for different audiences.
Build with AI & Emerging Technology
  • Build and experiment with AI tools, workflows, and automations to solve talent problems, simplify processes, and create better experiences for employees and managers.
  • Identify where AI can strengthen talent practices - from skills and internal mobility to talent insights and manager enablement and turn promising ideas into practical solutions that can scale.
  • Apply sound judgment about where and how to use AI, balancing innovation with quality, privacy, bias, employee experience, and the importance of human judgment.
Who You Are
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Talent Management, Talent Development, Organizational Development, or a related People discipline.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels - connecting Talent Management priorities to business objectives, shaping functional strategy and direction, and driving hands-on execution.
  • Experienced leading complex, cross-functional programs from concept through implementation and adoption.
  • A strong program manager who brings structure, clarity, and momentum to ambiguous and complex problems.
  • An effective communicator and facilitator who can influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Skilled at building trusted partnerships across functions and is sought out for expertise, sound judgment, and practical recommendations.
  • Comfortable using data and insights to identify opportunities, measure impact, and inform decisions.
  • Experienced building or experimenting with AI tools, workflows, or automations to solve people or business problems, with strong judgment about where AI can create value and where human judgment matters.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve programs, processes, and ways of working with a focus on scalable, sustainable solutions.
  • Passionate about creating simple, intuitive talent experiences that help employees grow and managers succeed, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
