Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Safety Engineer to join its team in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, Alabama, supporting the Sentinel program. The role focuses on system safety analyses, safety documentation, and design features to control or eliminate hazards.

Requires DoD Secret clearance and MIL-STD-882E experience. The position offers relocation assistance and a standard 9/80 schedule, with potential for bonuses and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in STEM with 5+ years related experience; 3 years with a Master’s; or 1 year with a PhD.
• US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, within scope, investigation in last 6 years
• At least 1 year using DO-178 or DO-254 for design development
• At least 1 year experience with C/C++, Java, OO design or similar software development
• At least 1 year of MIL-STD-882E for hazard analysis

Responsibilities

• Influence design to meet safety expectations and requirements for Northrop Grumman products.
• Create functional specifications and safety requirements for assigned systems.
• Develop safety documents to support customer and test/operational range requirements.
• Evaluate interrelationship of system safety requirements with concept design to ensure cost efficiency.
