Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a RTX company, is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to lead full lifecycle development for ground and airborne systems. The role requires active Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship, and is onsite in the U.S. aerospace sector.

You will oversee lab activities, ensure interface scalability, and guide integrations within target environments, while mentoring junior staff and driving design reviews and trade studies.

Qualifications

• Strong integration and test experience including test procedure development, test execution, test reporting, and test automation.
• Knowledge of or application of Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
• Proficient in tooling to include Microsoft products, or tasking boards (Jira, IBM EWM, etc.).
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued SECRET security clearance is required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development of full lifecycle solutions from CONOPS to Validation.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert within discipline with advanced to expert knowledge of work area.
• Oversee and perform lab activities including definition, setup, configuration management, and testing.
• Ensure Modeling, Hardware, and Software Interfaces utilize a scalable ontology.
• Oversee and support the Integration of Solutions within their target environment.
• Coach, review, and delegate work of lower-level professional.
• Contribute to the development of goals of the discipline and planning efforts (Cost and Schedule).
• Influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
• Manage moderately sized projects or processes.
• Manage the entrance and exit criteria of Design Reviews, Integration, Dry Run, and Formal Qualification Testing.
• Review, moderate and document major changes in systems or processes to solve difficult and often complex problems.
• Analyze and document system behaviors.
• Support system trade studies, requirements analysis, allocation to subsystems
