Job summary

RTX Collins Aerospace in Riverside, CA seeks an experienced engineer to design, develop and integrate automated systems for process and material development projects.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, supporting daily process development while ensuring compliance with TRL/ MR L and quality standards. This onsite role offers strong growth in aerospace innovations and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years' experience or an Advanced Degree with at least 5 years' experience.
  • Multi-Axis robotics programming and operation experience.
  • PLC programming and operating experience.
  • Experience as a technical SME, relationship building, effective communications, and lean leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate automated systems that support process and/or material development projects.
  • Lead and support development of technologies per TRL and MRL gates.
  • Work with Engineers and Technicians to support daily process development.
  • Interface between engineering groups to ensure on-time, quality task execution and deliverables.
  • Provide technical support for prototype and demonstrator builds and review manufacturing planning documents.
  • Ensure compliance with TRL, MRL, EHS, QMS, PPAP and related standards.
  • Engage in problem solving (root-cause analysis, FPY, OEE) and participate in PFMEA and control plans.
  • Identify opportunities to influence engineering drawings and tool designs.
  • Contribute to process improvement and lean initiatives.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, develop, and integrate automated systems that support process and/or material development projects
  • Lead and support the development of technologies in adherence with TRL and MRL toll gates.
  • Working closely with Engineers and Engineering Technicians, supporting daily process development.
  • Interacting between Engineering groups (programs, chief office engineer, aftermarket, manufacturing/operations, facilities, supply chain, test labs, suppliers and customers); ensuring on-time and quality execution of materials & process project tasks and deliverables.
  • Utilize manufacturing process experience to provide technical support and consultation for executing prototype and demonstrator builds.
  • Review, understand, provide feedback, and approve manufacturing planning documents.
  • Ensures adherence to all compliance requirements (TRL, MRL, EHS, CMS, QMS, PPAP etc.)
  • Engages in problem solving initiatives & challenges the status quo (e.g. root cause and corrective action investigations, OEE, FPY, customer escapes)
  • Participates and contributes on Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and control build plans.
  • Identifies opportunities on drawings and specifications to influence changes to engineering designs.
  • Participates in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible for processes.
  • Participates in process improvement and continuous improvement activities.
  • Implements results of lean manufacturing initiatives.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Multi-Axis robotics programming and operation experience.
  • PLC programming and operating experience.
  • Systems development and integration experience.
  • Experience as a technical SME, relationship building, effective communications, lean leader, influencer.
  • Product development and introduction experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • 3-5 years industry experience in the field of composite manufacturing and process development is required, ideally with a strong focus on composite Aerostructures.
  • Proficient oral and written communications skills in a very collaborative environment.
  • Experience working with fiber optic laser systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of robotic programming and operation.
  • Knowledge of metallic material & processing specifications for Aerospace industry.
  • Extensive Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience interpreting Engineering drawings and 3D CAD Designs (CATIA).
  • Knowledge of thermoset and thermoplastic composite material & processing specifications for Aerospace industry.

The salary range for this role is 118,300 USD - 224,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
