Job summary

Specialist Staffing Group is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer for a large medical device manufacturer in the Twin Cities area. The role focuses on systems architecture, requirements engineering, traceability, and robust documentation to drive system-level design decisions across software, electrical, mechanical, and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, CS or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience, Senior/Principal level considered.
• Medical device product development experience with complex capital equipment.
• Experience with Jama, CodeBeamer, Jira or similar tools.
• Experience leading cross-functional hardware, software, electrical, and mechanical teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder influence abilities.

Please see the below requirements for a Principal Systems Engineer with a large medical device manufacturer in the Twin Cities area. This is a growth-driven addition to a systems engineering team supporting complex medical device capital equipment platforms. The role is heavily focused on systems architecture, requirements engineering, traceability, and technical documentation, with responsibility for driving system-level design decisions and technical alignment across software, electrical, mechanical, and quality teams. This individual will help guide products from development through commercialization while solving complex integration challenges and advancing systems engineering best practices across the organization.

Compensation: Up to $170,000 base salary + 15% annual bonus

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
• Medical device product development experience, specifically supporting complex capital equipment systems
• 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience, with consideration given to both Senior and Principal-level candidates
• Strong background in systems architecture, requirements development, decomposition, allocation, and end-to-end traceability
• Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama, Codebeamer, Jira, or similar platforms
• Experience leading cross-functional product development efforts involving hardware, software, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders
