Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer in Indianapolis to lead systems engineering activities for DoD programs. You will develop requirements, models, and verification plans, working across disciplines to ensure compliance with the V-model lifecycle and MBSE practices.

The role demands a degree in a STEM field with extensive experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to coordinate across teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in a STEM discipline and at least eight (8) years of relevant experience in software requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
• Experience with the full systems engineering lifecycle (V-model), including writing and executing system qualification tests.
• Knowledge of the software lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, test, and configuration management.
• Security clearance (DoD Secret) with U.S. citizenship required.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Degree in a STEM discipline and at least eight (8) years of relevant experience in software requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
• Experience with the full systems engineering lifecycle (V‑model), including writing and executing system qualification tests.
• Knowledge of the software lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, test, and configuration management.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (DoD Secret). U.S. citizenship required.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a structured data‑driven environment and to collaborate across disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with the V‑22 platform.
• Working knowledge of CAMEO, SYSML, and DOORS.
• Experience with Model Base Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Agile development environments such as Azure DevOps.

Competitive compensation with a salary range of $107,500 to $204,500 per year. Relocation assistance available.
