Job summary

deciBel Research, Inc. seeks a Principal Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL to support the IDT product team on the Ground Based Mid-Course Defense program.

You will lead systems engineering activities, including requirements decomposition, system design, and integration & test within an Agile environment using Jira and Confluence. The ideal candidate has a STEM degree with 5+ years of related experience (or a STEM Master’s with 1+ year), strong MBSE/ SysML skills, experience with MSOSA (Cameo)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+ years of related work experience, or Master's with 1+ year.
• Proven experience with MSOSA (Cameo) and DOORS for system-level behaviors and interface definitions.
• Experience analyzing electrical schematics, ICDs, circuit diagrams, and FPGA logic.
• Background in architecture development, requirements development/allocation, and interface definition using system modeling tools.
• Experience developing test/verification plans and tracking verification.
• Strong MBSE and SysML experience describing DoD system behaviors.
• Experience mentoring in a team environment.
• Experience with Agile development and Atlassian tools (JIRA/Confluence).
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% and to interface with customers and manage subcontractors.
• Applicant must have an active Secret security clearance and be a U.S. citizen.

deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Principal Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL.

Position Description:

This position is for a Principal Systems Engineer to support the IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) product team on the Ground Based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program. The candidate should have experience taking on progressively challenging responsibilities, demonstrating initiative, and driving innovative solutions. They should be recognized as a self-starter with a proven ability to lead teams, learn quickly, and deliver results in dynamic environments. In this role the candidate will perform Systems Engineering functions such as requirements decomposition, system design, and system integration & test as part of the IDT product team. This team follows an Agile framework using Jira and Confluence to manage their backlog and document progress.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university

Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and at least 5 years of related work experience; or a Master's degree in STEM and at least 1 year of related work experience
• Strong prior experience using MSOSA (Cameo) and DOORS to develop system level behaviors and software to hardware interface definitions and interface control documents
• Experience analyzing electrical schematics, electrical interface control documents (ICDs), circuit diagrams, and FPGA logic or logic gate diagrams
• Demonstrated technical background in architecture development, functional decomposition, requirements development and allocation, and interface definition using system modeling tools
• Experience developing test plans, development of verification plans and tracking status of verification
• Strong background in MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) and the use of SysML to describe behaviors of complex DoD systems
• Experience mentoring in a team environment
• Experience with Agile development
• Experience interfacing with and briefing external customers and experience interfacing with and managing subcontractors
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs

Special Skills Desired:

• Experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or related domains (e.g., air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.)
• Systems modeling and analysis experience in one or more aspects of the missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapon System, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), fire control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.)
• Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems
• Experience using Atlassian products such as JIRA and Confluence to develop product backlogs, roadmaps, and reporting metrics
