Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead Supplier Integration initiatives aligned to the Supplier Integration 777 strategy and targets.

  • Scale SMI (Supplier Managed Inventory), Consignment, and Supplier Portal capabilities.
  • Partner with business units, sites, and suppliers to embed best practices.
  • Build business cases, roadmaps, and value propositions for stakeholder alignment.
  • Present project updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead supplier assessments and process reviews to improve inventory and lead times.
  • Monitor KPIs including inventory, service, SMI adoption, and value delivery.

A Day in the Life

Lead the development and deployment of scalable supplier collaboration solutions across Medtronic's global supply network, partnering cross-functionally to improve supply continuity, inventory performance, and operational efficiency while shaping the future of Supplier Integration.

Principal Supply Chain Planner- US Based- Remote

This role is part of the Integrated Supply Center of Excellence (COE) within the Supply Planning organization. The team develops, scales, and embeds supplier collaboration solutions across Medtronic's global supply network to improve continuity of supply, inventory performance, supplier engagement, and operational efficiency.

You will work cross-functionally with External Suppliers, Category Management, Supply Planning, Inventory COE, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Master Data, and Buyer Planners to deliver initiatives aligned with the Supplier Integration 777 Strategy (7-Day Lead Time, 7-Day Minimum Order Quantity, and 7-Day Delivery Frequency).

The ideal candidate combines supply chain expertise with strong communication, influencing, and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders from buyers, planners, and site teams to suppliers and executive leadership.

Primary Responsibilities

In this highly visible role, you will lead Supplier Integration initiatives that improve how Medtronic collaborates with suppliers across its global supply network.

Success in this role requires flexibility and the ability to influence at all levels. One day you may be presenting strategy, value realization, and implementation roadmaps to senior leadership. The next day you may be working with buyers, planners, sourcing specialists, and manufacturing sites to remove barriers and drive execution. Another day may involve visiting a supplier to assess material and information flows, map production processes, and identify opportunities to reduce lead times, inventory, safety stock, and supply chain complexity.

  • Lead Supplier Integration initiatives aligned to the Supplier Integration 777 strategy and annual value targets.
  • Travel to supplier locations as required to build relationships, value stream map, identify opportunities, and support implementation activities.
  • Scale SMI (Supplier Managed Inventory), Consignment, and Supplier Portal capabilities across Medtronic.
  • Partner with business units, sites, Category Management, Planning, Inventory COE, Blue Yonder, Operations, and suppliers to embed Supplier Integration best practices.
  • Build business cases, implementation roadmaps, and value propositions to secure stakeholder alignment and executive sponsorship.
  • Present project updates, strategic recommendations, risks, opportunities, and value realization results to senior leadership.
  • Lead supplier assessments and process reviews to improve inventory, lead time, safety stock, and service performance.
  • Monitor and communicate key performance indicators including inventory, service, SMI adoption, and value delivery.
  • Manage cross-functional projects and drive sustainable change across the organization
Required Experience
  • Requires a Bachelors Degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience
Preferred Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Project, etc.) or similar software.
  • Strong data analysis, data management, and quantitative skillsStrong communication, negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and good understanding of team dynamics.
  • Must be detail-oriented, with ability to connect the detail to higher level goals.
  • Working knowledge and experience of quality system requirements and good manufacturing systems and practices.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (i.e., medical device, pharmaceutical)
  • Understanding of contracts (supply, services, non-disclosures, etc.)
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt (or comparable training). Black Belt would be preferred.
  • Ability to drive change across operational teams, suppliers, and executive leadership.
  • Experience presenting business cases, strategies, risks, and project outcomes to senior leadership. Experience with negotiating commercial and legal agreements.
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, quantify value, and support adoption of new supply chain capabilities.
