Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Principal Supplier Performance Engineer to optimize APX supplier processes, ensure compliance with quality, technical and contractual requirements, and lead supplier performance improvements for nuclear new plant projects.

The role reports to the Sr Manager, APX Supply Chain and is located at Cranberry, PA or Rock Hill, SC with a hybrid work arrangement. Base salary ranges from $90,000 to $112,500 per year and no relocation assistance is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in engineering/manufacturing
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, forming, mechanical assembly, NDE and inspection, and testing
  • Experience performing process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Plans, PFMEAs
  • Experience leading multiple, concurrent projects
  • Experience authoring technical documents or operating procedures
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications made to ASME standards
  • Experience with nuclear products and standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure APX Supply Chain WBSs develop and implement Supplier Oversight Plans
  • Assist the Witness and Hold module
  • Identify and escalate supplier issues, risk, and quality events
  • Coordinate actions to resolve issues and implement corrective actions
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics to identify negative trends
  • Develop security of supply risk mitigation plans
  • Oversee corrective action requests and verify preventive actions
  • Perform technical supplier evaluations for capability and compliance
  • Identify gaps between supplier capabilities and Westinghouse requirements
  • Support supplier improvement projects and cost reduction efforts
  • Review and disposition supplier process documents and CPAs

As a Principal Supplier Performance Engineer you will be responsible for optimizing processes and tools related to APX Supplier Performance. You will also help ensure supplier compliance with Westinghouse quality, technical, and contractual requirements for components supporting nuclear new plant projects.

You will report to the Sr Manager; APX Supply Chain and can be located at either our Cranberry, PA or Rock Hill, SC locations. This is a hybrid role that does not offer relocation assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the APX Supply Chain WBSs consistently develop and implement Supplier Oversight Plans to guide completion of critical document submittals, manufacturing activities, surveillance (witness and hold) points, inspections, and tests and ensure vendor compliance with critical requirements
  • Assist the SPE team with the Witness and Hold point module.
  • Identify and escalation supplier issues, risk, and quality events.
  • Promote prompt resolution of issues by coordinating activities, issuing communications, and identifying partners to ensure prompt identification of impacted products, disposition of issues, and implementation of corrective action
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics (On-Time Delivery, Quality issues, Deviation Notices) for assigned suppliers to proactively identify negative performance trends and implement causal analysis, corrective actions, and Supplier Improvement Plans to mitigate issues.
  • Evaluate procurement (supplier) risk, soliciting partner input, and using resources to develop security of supply risk mitigation plans
  • Oversee internal and external (supplier) corrective action requests, performing cause analyses and verifying completion of preventative and corrective actions
  • Perform technical evaluations of suppliers to assess manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls, compliance with applicable regulations, codes and standards, and associated risks
  • Identify gaps between supplier capabilities and Westinghouse technical / quality requirements to establish and implement development plans.
  • Support supplier improvement projects and cost reduction efforts. This includes performing supplier development activities to establish or improve suppliers' manufacturing processes and quality management systems to meet Westinghouse requirements.
  • Review and disposition supplier process documents, process capability analyses, measurement system analyses, input to design for manufacturability.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $90,000 to $112,500 per year.
