Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Principal Supplier Performance Engineer to optimize APX supply chain processes and ensure supplier compliance with quality, technical, and contractual requirements for components supporting nuclear new plant projects.

Remote work is hybrid with locations in Cranberry Township, PA or Rock Hill, SC. Reporting to the Sr Manager, APX Supply Chain, you will lead supplier oversight and risk mitigation activities in a challenging nuclear-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 4+ years of progressive engineering/manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, forming, mechanical assembly, NDE and inspection, and testing.
• Experience with process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification.
• Familiarity with Manufacturing and Quality Plans, PFMEAs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure APX Supply Chain WBSs develop and implement Supplier Oversight Plans for documents, manufacturing, surveillance, inspections, and tests.
• Assist SPE team with Witness and Hold module.
• Identify and elevate supplier issues, risk, and quality events.
• Coordinate actions to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics and drive corrective actions and supplier improvements.
• Evaluate procurement risk and develop mitigation plans.
• Oversee corrective actions for supplier processes and verification of completion.
• Perform technical evaluations of suppliers for capability, capacity, controls, and compliance with regulations and standards.
• Identify gaps between supplier capabilities and Westinghouse requirements and develop development plans.
• Support supplier improvement projects and cost reduction activities.

As a Principal Supplier Performance Engineer you will be responsible for optimizing processes and tools related to APX Supplier Performance. You will also help ensure supplier compliance with Westinghouse quality, technical, and contractual requirements for components supporting nuclear new plant projects.

You will report to the Sr Manager; APX Supply Chain and can be located at either our Cranberry, PA or Rock Hill, SC locations. This is a hybrid role that does not offer relocation assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the APX Supply Chain WBSs consistently develop and implement Supplier Oversight Plans to guide completion of critical document submittals, manufacturing activities, surveillance (witness and hold) points, inspections, and tests and ensure vendor compliance with critical requirements
• Assist the SPE team with the Witness and Hold point module.
• Identify and elevate supplier issues, risk, and quality events.
• Promote prompt resolution of issues by coordinating activities, issuing communications, and identifying partners to ensure prompt identification of impacted products, disposition of issues, and implementation of corrective action
• Monitor supplier performance metrics (On-Time Delivery, Quality issues, Deviation Notices) for assigned suppliers to proactively identify negative performance trends and implement causal analysis, corrective actions, and Supplier Improvement Plans to mitigate issues.
• Evaluate procurement (supplier) risk, soliciting partner input, and using resources to develop security of supply risk mitigation plans
• Oversee internal and external (supplier) corrective action requests, performing cause analyses and verifying completion of preventative and corrective actions
• Perform technical evaluations of suppliers to assess manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls, compliance with applicable regulations, codes and standards, and associated risks
• Identify gaps between supplier capabilities and Westinghouse technical / quality requirements to establish and implement development plans.
• Support supplier improvement projects and cost reduction efforts. This includes performing supplier development activities to establish or improve suppliers' manufacturing processes and quality management systems to meet Westinghouse requirements.
• Review and disposition supplier process documents, process capability analyses, measurement system analyses, input to design for manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• 4+ years of progressive experience in engineering/manufacturing
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as machining, welding, forming, mechanical assembly, NDE and inspection, and testing
• Experience performing process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification
• Working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Plans, PFMEAs.
• Experience leading multiple, concurrent projects
• Experience authoring technical documents or operating procedures
• Ability to read drawings and specifications made to ASME standards
• Experience with nuclear products and standards preferred.

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $90,000 to $112,500 per year.
