Job summary

Rocket Lab in Littleton, Colorado, is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to serve as Chief Software Engineer for a major constellation program. You will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, mission-critical software for space-based and ground systems, with expertise in flight software, embedded systems, and RTOS.

Applicants must hold active TS/SCI, U.S. citizenship, and have 12+ years in aerospace software, plus C/C++ and Python.

Qualifications

12+ years of professional software development experience, including embedded systems and ground software.
Experience with architecting scalable software systems for aerospace or defense.
Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded development and Python for testing.
Experience with integrating hardware and reading ICDs/schematics.

Responsibilities

Define and evolve the end-to-end software architecture for flight and ground systems.
Develop flight software and hardware drivers for spacecraft sensors and actuators.
Build ground software platforms to support spacecraft operations.
Create unit tests within CI and verify software with hardware-in-the-loop.
Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineering teams.
