Job summary

ID.me is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to lead data modeling, API contracts, and long-term architecture for Work Profiles and Communities. You will drive evolution of the data model, eligibility rules, and verification workflows across scalable services, partnering with product, security, and enterprise teams.

You will own the API surface, surface claims to downstream partners via OIDC, and mentor engineers while ensuring strong security, privacy, and compliance in

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with domain authority across multiple systems.
• Deep expertise in data modeling and relationship schemas at scale.
• Proven track record designing APIs and data contracts with versioning and governance.
• Ability to set technical strategy and align engineering teams without direct authority.
• Experience designing configuration-driven or rules-driven systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the data model strategy and long-term architecture for Work Profiles and Communities.
• Own the API contracts across both platforms and surface organizational claims to partners.
• Set technical direction and design standards for the domain to enable scalable delivery.
• Define and evolve the profile configuration model including eligibility rules and mappings.
• Lead the architecture of validation mechanisms as composable building blocks.
• Mentor staff and senior engineers to raise the bar in data modeling and API design.
• Lead profile lifecycle management: issuance, expiration, revocation, revalidation.
• Ensure security, privacy, and compliance in high-assurance use cases.
• Contribute to platform-wide architecture decisions representing data and contract needs.
