Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a software professional to perform full lifecycle design, implementation, and testing of software in a lab environment, collaborating with engineers and technicians to integrate functionality with other components and develop end‑to‑end architectures.

Candidate must have DoD Secret clearance eligibility, strong C/C++ and scripting skills, Linux troubleshooting expertise, virtualization experience, and the ability to travel ~10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• For Senior Principal Engineer: 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 6 years of relevant work, or a PhD with at least 4 years in software engineering.
• U.S. citizen able to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance; interim clearance required to start.
• Development experience with C/C++ or other OO languages; Linux troubleshooting with STIGs; virtualization and scripting experience.

Responsibilities

• Full lifecycle design, implementation, and unit testing of software.
• Collaborate with team members to integrate functionality with other software components.
• Support gathering and reporting of software metrics.
• Follow program software best practices.
• Develop software products through all phases of the software lifecycle.
• Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment.
• Review and incorporate technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures.
• Lead a team or provide leadership to drive solutions to complex problems.
• Support software working groups with the customer.
• Develop and share technical documentation and presentations.
