Job summary

UBC in the United States is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to architect, design, and develop sophisticated software systems. This hands‑on role requires up to 100% coding and mentoring of junior engineers while guiding tech direction with emphasis on pattern management and system consistency.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure delivery aligns with goals, lead incident response, and represent the company in cross‑functional and vendor partner settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 12–15 years of relevant experience with senior/principal engineering exposure.
• Innovative mindset and strong technical depth.
• Extensive coding with .NET Unified Platform V8 and .NET Framework 4.8.
• Experience implementing workflow orchestration in microservice architectures; Camunda Cloud preferred.
• Knowledge of advanced software engineering principles and concepts.
• Ability to translate complex goals into concrete technical solutions.
• Customer-oriented with ability to communicate to stakeholders at all levels.
• Healthcare or PBM industry knowledge is a plus.
• Vendor-partner collaboration experience; flexible to work outside standard hours.
• Strong collaboration, agile practices, and leadership in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience with Java or React is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross‑vendor collaboration to set estimates, delivery plans, and timelines.
• Ensure integrity and quality of vendor solutions across projects.
• Provide technical leadership for an application family in line with strategic initiatives.
• Mentor technical staff and drive modernization and debt reduction.
• Promote best practices and reusable components.
• Lead incident response and root-cause analyses for production issues.
• Partner with architects to guide enterprise technology decisions.
• Drive knowledge sharing within teams and with vendors.
