Palo Alto Networks, Inc. is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join the Next-gen Firewall dataplane team in Santa Clara, CA.

You will design and develop the next-generation firewall, own large software components, and work with product management on real customer requirements throughout the full software development cycle. You will collaborate with QA, Support, and cross-functional teams, applying C, Python, and shell scripting skills to implement secure, scalable networking features for

Qualifications

7+ years of experience as a developer in the networking dataplane domain.
Expert C, Python, Shell scripting programming skills.
Expert in TCP/IP stack, IPv4/IPv6.
Knowledge of mobility protocols like GTP/PFCP/SCTP is a plus and learnable.
Strong Unix/Linux software development experience.
BS/MS degree in CS/CE/EE or equivalent or military experience.

Responsibilities

Develop Next Gen Network Security Components and Protocols for state-of-the-art firewalls in Enterprise, Data Center, Cloud, and Service Provider environments.
Develop network security features for securing 4G/5G service provider networks and enterprise deployments.
Develop security modules with DPI, ML-based algorithms and automation via AI agents.
Develop scalable high availability solutions for stateful failover.
Collaborate with Product Management, QA, Support and other teams on user requirements.
Own and independently drive tasks and assignments.
