Palo Alto Networks is seeking innovative engineers to design and develop security features for our next-generation firewalls. As a key member of the Layer-7 Security group, you will take ownership of your focus areas, applying your programming skills to solve real-world security problems.

You will collaborate with multi-functional teams including product management, quality assurance, and field support throughout the entire software development cycle.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience in the enterprise networking or cybersecurity industry.
• Proficiency in C, Go and Python within a Linux/Unix development environment.
• Experience with multi-threaded programming, asynchronous I/O, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on TCP/IP networking software development and understanding of lower-level networking protocols.
• End-to-end ownership of complex technical projects and mentoring senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Architect & Implement: Design, build, and maintain real-time, high-throughput security services and networking infrastructure.
• Technical Leadership: Lead complex engineering projects end-to-end—from architecture reviews to production monitoring.
• Operational Excellence: Promote secure coding, code reviews, performance tuning, and robust system design.
• Elevate Systems Ownership: Own critical control-plane and data-plane components for GlobalProtect server infra.
• Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve server-side and network-level issues with minimal info.
• Test Automation & Quality: Advocate for automated testing, CI/CD, and high code coverage.
• AI-Driven Productivity: Leverage AI-assisted tools to maximize coding efficiency and delivery speed.
