Job summary

FIS is seeking a Principal Engineer to define architecture and technical direction for a scalable mobile platform. You will lead engineering across native iOS, native Android and React Native, establishing reusable capabilities, standards and delivery practices to support secure, high-performing apps.

• Extensive experience architecting and delivering complex, production-grade mobile applications.
• Advanced expertise in at least one native platform (Swift or Kotlin) with working depth in the other.
• React Native experience.
• Proven engineering leadership across mobile architecture, platform strategy and technical standards.
• Experience implementing mobile CI/CD pipelines, including Bitrise.
• Deep knowledge of mobile security, accessibility, performance, testing, observability and release management.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and a point of view on how they change mobile engineering.
• Degree in Computer Science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

About the Role

You will define the architecture and technical direction for a mobile platform that product teams across FIS build on, supporting secure, scalable financial applications. You will lead engineering across native iOS, native Android and React Native technologies while establishing reusable capabilities, standards and delivery practices. As a principal engineer, you will solve complex platform challenges and influence mobile strategy across engineering, product, security and operations. Success means enabling teams to deliver reliable, accessible and high-performing mobile experiences efficiently.

What You Will Be Doing

• Define the architecture and technical strategy for enterprise mobile platforms and applications.
• Lead the evaluation of FIS’s mobile framework strategy, native vs. cross-platform, as AI-assisted development changes the tradeoffs.
• Establish standards for native iOS, native Android and React Native development.
• Design reusable frameworks, libraries, services and developer tooling for mobile engineering teams.
• Guide application architecture using Swift, Kotlin and modern React Native patterns.
• Lead decisions involving security, privacy, scalability, accessibility and application performance.
• Establish continuous integration and delivery capabilities using Bitrise and complementary automation tools.
• Improve automated testing, code quality, observability and release reliability across mobile applications.
• Guide application signing, provisioning and releases through Apple and Google application stores.
• Partner with product, design, security and platform teams to deliver consistent mobile experiences.
• Partner with Design to deliver the design system’s mobile components and tokens.
• Evaluate AI-assisted capabilities that improve mobile development, testing and operational workflows.
• Lead resolution of complex architecture, integration, performance and production reliability challenges.
• Coach senior engineers and technical leads while strengthening mobile engineering practices.

What You Will Need

• Extensive experience architecting and delivering complex, production-grade mobile applications.

• Experience implementing mobile continuous integration and delivery pipelines, including Bitrise.
• Deep knowledge of mobile security, accessibility, performance, testing, observability and release management.
• Hands‑on experience with AI coding tools and a point of view on how they change mobile engineering.
• Degree in Computer Science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Added Bonus if You Have

• Experience developing mobile platforms or applications within banking, payments or financial services.
• Experience releasing and maintaining applications through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
• Knowledge of iPadOS, macOS and the broader Apple development ecosystem.
• Experience integrating mobile applications with APIs, identity platforms and cloud-based services.
• Familiarity with secure software development practices for regulated financial environments.
• Experience with mobile app integrity and attestation (Apple App Attest, Google Play Integrity) and secure secrets handling.
