Job summary

Alcon is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Fort Worth, TX to design, develop, and deliver scalable backend services with Java/Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud-native architectures. You will also contribute to frontend work using React.js to create seamless user experiences across digital health platforms.

The role emphasizes collaboration with product owners, solution architects, and DevOps, along with mentoring engineers and upholding engineering excellence in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of directly related experience.
• English fluency in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating.
• 5+ years of relevant experience developing enterprise-grade applications with backend focus.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Experience building cloud-native solutions using AWS and distributed system design.
• Proficiency with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Experience with React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3; Angular knowledge a plus.
• Security, API authentication/authorization, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices.
• Testing with JUnit, Mockito; serverless and event-driven AWS Lambda preferred.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering excellence.

Responsibilities
