Tivly, a leading US commercial insurance marketplace, offers a remote Principal Engineer role. You will design and scale core software systems, directing technical direction in collaboration with the CTO to support growth.

Responsibilities include hands-on coding across Java, Kotlin, Python, and TypeScript; guiding architecture decisions; mentoring engineers; and ensuring security, reliability, and compliance across platforms.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend/platform roles.
• Advanced proficiency in Java; hands-on with Kotlin, Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Proven track record designing, building, and scaling distributed systems and microservice-based architectures in high-traffic environments.
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and integrating with internal/external services.
• Deep understanding of system performance, reliability, and observability.

Responsabilités

• Own the architecture and design of distributed systems serving millions of insurance leads and transactions.
• Lead hands-on development, code reviews, and system optimizations across multiple languages.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, fostering a high-performing, collaborative environment.
• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and Data teams on scalable API integrations and microservices.
