Job summary

Tivly is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead architecture and hands-on development for our high‑traffic insurance platform. You will shape technical direction, design distributed systems, and mentor engineers across multi‑language stacks as we scale our core software.

Reporting to the CTO, you’ll drive performance, reliability, and security while collaborating with Product, DevOps, and Data teams. This is a remote, full‑time role open to several US states.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend/platform focus.
• Proven track record designing, building, and scaling distributed systems.
• Strong in RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and multi-language stacks.
• Deep understanding of performance, reliability, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and design of distributed systems serving high‑volume traffic.
• Lead hands‑on development, code reviews, and system optimization.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Product, DevOps, and Data teams.
