Job summary

CSAA Insurance Group is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead emerging technology and AI initiatives remotely across the United States. You will design rapid prototypes, evaluate platforms, and translate concepts into scalable solutions for delivery teams in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture and AI Strategy & Enablement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, technology, or an equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering
• 10+ years of software development experience
• Knowledge of cloud-native services and platforms
• Build, integration, and deployment tooling experience
• Experience with APIs, cloud services, AI platforms, data sources, and vendor products
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence enterprise architecture decisions

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design of experiments, prototypes, and pilots across diverse technologies
• Build working software and integrations to validate feasibility and risks
• Create design artifacts, documentation, and reusable patterns
• Evaluate APIs, cloud services, AI platforms, and data sources through hands-on testing
• Provide guidance across experiments and help transition concepts to delivery teams
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with AI Strategy & Enablement and platform teams
