TD is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Mount Laurel, NJ to provide technical leadership across enterprise-scale software solutions addressing platform and journey needs. Role focuses on scalable, secure, and reliable systems, with deep expertise in software engineering, architecture, and security.

You will mentor teams, drive architectural directions, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-impact technology initiatives in a financial services environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 7 years in senior technical leadership, architecture, or enterprise-scale engineering transformation roles within complex, highly regulated environments.
• 10+ years of experience driving SDLC and PDLC transformation, including Agile/SAFe, DevSecOps, CI/CD, engineering productivity, developer experience, quality engineering, and release automation.
• Strong command of software architecture fundamentals and first-principles thinking, with at least 8 years of experience designing or modernizing distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and highly resilient, scalable applications.
• 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, including designing and building enterprise-scale internal developer platforms, reusable engineering services, developer self-service capabilities, environment management, infrastructure automation, and performance engineering solutions adopted across multiple engineering organizations.
• 3+ years of practical experience applying AI/ML and Generative AI to software engineering, including hands-on implementation of AI‑assisted development, agentic AI workflows, intelligent test generation, code modernization, automated code reviews, and AI‑driven engineering productivity solutions.
• Demonstrated proficiency in modern engineering technologies, including Java or Python, cloud platforms, containerization, Kubernetes, microservices, REST APIs, CI/CD frameworks, and infrastructure as code.
• Proven track record of leading enterprise-scale engineering modernization initiatives, translating ambiguous business and technology challenges into executable engineering strategies, scalable platforms, and measurable improvements in reliability, developer productivity, time to market, and total cost of ownership.

Responsabilités

• Advances engineering practices and sets development standards at business unit/enterprise level.
• Owns automation of build, test, release, and configuration across application, platform, and infrastructure domains.
• Leads end-to-end solution design and coordinates stakeholders to support development initiatives.
• Develops detailed solution designs and acts as an application SME through design and development lifecycles.
• Accounts for complex applications/systems development, programming, and coding.
• Designs functional, technical, and UI aspects of applications meeting requirements and architecture.
• Reviews requirements and applies business knowledge to design optimal software/systems.
• Evaluates and improves solutions to enhance customer experience, availability, and cost efficiency.
• Works with architects to ensure environment changes integrate well and meet performance needs.
• Contributes to TD engineering practice through collaboration, research, and problem-solving.
