Job summary

Ally Financial seeks a hands-on Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale automation and AI solutions. You will identify high-value opportunities, architect intelligent workflows, and build scalable platforms combining software engineering, cloud-native architecture, RPA, APIs, and generative AI to drive measurable impact.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of relevant experience in software engineering and large-scale enterprise applications.
Hands-on experience with automation engineering, workflow orchestration, API development and cloud-native solutions.
Experience building AI-enabled solutions including LLM-based workflows, document automation, and AI tooling.

Responsibilities

Lead design and delivery of enterprise-scale automation and AI solutions.
Architect intelligent automation using LLMs, agent-based patterns, and retrieval-augmented approaches.
Partner with business, product, risk, and engineering stakeholders to identify high-value use cases and ROI.
Establish scalable engineering patterns for automation platforms, including APIs, observability, and CI/CD.
Mentor engineers and set engineering standards for testing, security, and delivery.
