Job summary

Ally Financial in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, test, deploy, and support production software, owning features from design through implementation and support. You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with Product, Architecture, SRE, Cybersecurity, and Risk teams, and leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve quality and delivery.

This hands-on role balances near-term delivery with long-term health, security, observability, and reliability

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience building and supporting production software in complex environments preferred.
• Strong fundamentals; depth in at least one programming language/tech domain.
• Ability to independently drive solutions, raise risks, and seek alignment.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support production software.
• Own features and technical solutions from design through implementation and support.
• Write and review code using traditional, automated, and AI-assisted approaches.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, SRE, Cybersecurity, Risk, and partner teams.
• Improve software quality, reliability, maintainability, and developer productivity.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and pairing.
