Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead large-scale, cross-functional projects and mentor diverse teams. You will translate requirements into robust software architectures, drive design reviews, and ensure timely delivery while advancing reliability and performance.

In this role, you will collaborate with business partners to set priorities, lead discovery efforts, and foster continuous learning through adoption of new technologies and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field plus 5 years' software engineering experience.
• Option 2 requires 7 years' software engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale, cross-functional engineering projects and oversee design and code reviews.
• Mentor engineering teams, including offshore associates, with guidance and performance feedback.
• Drive root cause analysis for critical issues to prevent recurrence and improve reliability.
• Collaborate with business partners to identify priorities and plan timely deliveries.
• Lead discovery phases with stakeholders to develop high-level designs and proofs of concept.
• Promote continuous improvement by adopting new technologies and fostering learning.
