HealthEquity is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to shape the design and development of scalable, enterprise-grade systems that support modern finance workflows. The role is remote and focuses on guiding multiple teams while contributing hands-on technical leadership.

You will mentor engineers, elevate engineering standards, and drive modernization initiatives across platforms like NetSuite. This position emphasizes reliability, data integrity, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
12–15+ years of software development experience
5+ years in a senior technical leadership or lead role
Proven experience designing, building, and implementing large-scale enterprise systems
Demonstrated track record of driving technical innovation and modernization initiatives
Experience in FinTech or financial systems domain

Responsibilities

Own architecture and direction for key finance initiatives, including Unified Billing
Lead cross-team engineering across multiple scrum teams
Design scalable, resilient systems for high-volume financial transactions
Translate complex financial requirements into robust technical solutions
Drive modernization and platform optimization (NetSuite and related systems)
Mentor engineers and elevate engineering practices across the organization
Influence organization-wide engineering standards, including observability, reliability, security, and performance
Identify opportunities for AI/automation to improve productivity and efficiency
