Job summary

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for an onsite Fulton, MD role. You will drive design and architecture, lead multiple engineers, and work in an Agile, fast-paced environment on advanced software systems for government and commercial customers.

The role requires strong Java/C++ skills, distributed systems knowledge, and experience with modern tooling (GraphQL, REST, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes). Citizenship and clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in software development using Java and/or C++.
• Full software life cycle development including requirements, design, development, debugging and testing.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, information retrieval.
• Typically requires a STEM degree with 8 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Drive design, architecture, and development of critical capabilities in an Agile environment.
• Coordinate activities of multiple engineers to ensure technical execution and delivery.
• Provide proactive leadership to recognize issues early and guide teams to corrective actions.
• Communicate effectively with all levels and prepare presentations for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate in a highly team-oriented environment to design and innovate software solutions.
