Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Principal engineer to shape the Control Plane Serverless platform. You will architect and guide the orchestration layer behind Elastic Cloud Serverless, spanning AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, focusing on reliability, security, and scalability.

You will lead critical projects, mentor teams, and partner with product management to drive roadmap decisions, all while maintaining high standards in a distributed, asynchronous work environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building software in distributed systems at scale.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture.
• Proficiency with Go and major cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
• Experience operating high-availability SaaS platforms and improving reliability.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for major Serverless control-plane initiatives from design to GA.
• Lead multi-quarter projects with dependencies across teams (e.g., Elasticsearch and Kibana).
• Design, build, and evolve distributed systems for Serverless projects across cloud providers.
• Raise the operational bar, investigate incidents, and participate in on-call rotation.
• Mentor engineers and set standards for software development across teams.
