Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, seeks a Principal-level engineer to shape the Cloud Serverless control plane. You will set technical direction, design distributed systems across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, and partner with Elasticsearch and Kibana teams.

You will lead cross-team projects, mentor engineers, and participate in on-call rotations, while emphasizing security, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building software at scale.
• Deep Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture experience.
• Proficiency with Go and at least one major cloud provider.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for major Serverless control plane initiatives from proposal to GA.
• Lead multi-quarter projects with dependencies across Elasticsearch and Kibana to delivery.
• Design and evolve distributed systems that orchestrate Serverless projects across clouds.
• Increase operational reliability; lead complex incident investigations and on-call rotations.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical judgment; set standards for software development.
• Advise product management and senior engineering stakeholders on trade-offs, feasibility, and roadmap.
• Identify and champion security, stability, and cost-efficiency improvements.
