Job summary

Precision Point is seeking a Principal or Senior Scientist to lead off-target validation and specificity assessment for a CRISPR base editing platform. You will design and execute genome-wide specificity assays, analyze NGS data, and collaborate across cross-functional teams to advance programs toward IND enabling studies.

Level and title are flexible based on experience; you will mentor junior scientists and help build the genomic safety function while tracking emerging detection technologies

Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, or related field.
• 5+ years in genome editing for Senior Scientist level or 8+ years for Principal Scientist level.
• Direct work in off-target or specificity assessment.
• Experience with off-target detection assays (GUIDE-seq, CIRCLE-seq, etc.).
• Strong NGS data analysis and bioinformatics background.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret off-target and genome-wide specificity assays.
• Lead NGS-based bioinformatics analysis of on/off-target editing events.
• Develop and validate assays for genomic safety ahead of IND submissions.
• Partner cross-functionally with protein engineering and other teams.

The company is scaling its genomic safety function ahead of upcoming IND enabling programs and is looking for a scientist who can own off target validation and specificity assessment for its base editing pipeline. Client identity will be shared with qualified candidates as the process advances.

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Principal or Senior Scientist to lead off target validation and specificity assessment for a CRISPR base editing platform. This person will design and execute genome wide specificity assays, analyze next generation sequencing data, and partner cross functionally to advance programs toward IND enabling studies. Level and title are flexible and will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret off target and genome wide specificity assays (e.g. GUIDE seq, CIRCLE seq, CHANGE seq, Digenome seq, or comparable unbiased detection methods) for base editing and nuclease based platforms
• Lead NGS based bioinformatics analysis to characterize on target efficiency and off target editing events
• Develop and validate assays supporting genomic safety assessment ahead of IND enabling and regulatory submissions
• Partner cross functionally with protein engineering, computational biology, and translational teams to refine editor specificity and guide platform improvements
• Present data to internal stakeholders and contribute to regulatory documentation (IND, IB, briefing documents)
• Mentor junior scientists and help build out the genomic safety function
• Track emerging off target detection technologies and specificity profiling methods and recommend adoption where relevant

Required Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
• 5+ years of hands on experience in genome editing for Senior Scientist level, or 8+ years for Principal Scientist level, with direct work in off target or specificity assessment
• Demonstrated experience with off target detection assays (GUIDE seq, CIRCLE seq, CHANGE seq, Digenome seq, or comparable methods)
• Strong background in NGS data analysis and bioinformatics pipelines relevant to genome editing
• Direct experience with CRISPR nuclease or base editing platforms
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting data to cross functional and leadership audiences
