Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Principal Security Software Engineer for Starlink to design, build, and improve security across Starlink's software stack. You will influence cryptographic services, OS security, and threat detection and work with multiple teams to ship reliable security features.

The role requires 8+ years in security software development or 10+ without a degree, experience with Python/C++/Go, and familiarity with TPMs/HSMs. This position offers competitive compensation and strong benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS or STEM and 8+ years of security software development experience.
Experience in Python, C++, or Golang.
Experience designing security for operating systems, distributed systems, or large-scale infrastructure.
Experience contributing security improvements to complex systems.
Knowledge of TPMs and HSMs.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP and network protocols.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Advanced degree in technical field preferred.

Responsibilities

Design and build security infrastructure for Starlink, including cryptographic services and other security‑critical services.
Develop security features for Starlink systems, including our router, dish, gateways, and satellites.
Design security into factory processes and provide network services in support of this.
Maintain existing production systems and improve security posture via both direct implementation and recommendations to other teams.
Build prototypes and help identify, design, and test security improvements.
