MongoDB's Global Security Organization is seeking a Principal Security Engineer in a hands-on, architecture-focused role. You will tackle hard security and design problems, guide product security with strong opinions, and mentor senior ICs while collaborating across engineering, GTM and corporate Dev to keep security aligned with the business.

Based in NYC/Seattle or remote within North America, the role demands depth in security, risk assessment, and the ability to push for the best security

Qualifications

• 12+ years of security engineering or related discipline.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep technical security expertise across compute, network, storage.
• Proven track record forming and defending independent technical positions.
• Experience influencing cross-functional partners without formal authority.
• Comfort managing ambiguous, deadline-driven work and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Maintain real technical depth in security and product architecture to evaluate risk.
• Form independent, well-reasoned opinions on security decisions and vocalize them.
• Drive teams to accelerate when appropriate while guarding against excessive risk.
• Debate, align, then commit to the right call and execute it.
• Seed and grow a community of senior ICs across security domains.
• Lead cross-functional engagements like due diligence and risk assessments.
