Job summary

You will guide experimental planning, oversee piloting and tech transfer, collaborate across disciplines, and present results for regulatory filings. This role offers leadership and opportunities to shape manufacturing partnerships.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 8+ years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech.
• MS with 10+ years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech.
• BS with 12+ years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech.
• Strong background in pharmaceutical chemistry, including route scouting, mechanistic experiments, and process characterization.
• Experience with piloting, manufacturing, and isolation of APIs across several modalities.
• Familiarity with analytical tools and purification techniques.
• Experience with CDMO management.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing development to optimize and characterize processes for Biogen assets.
• Design and lead experimental planning to advance the Biogen portfolio.
• Mentor staff and promote use of key laboratory instrumentation.
• Develop knowledge to transfer chemical and biochemical processes from lab to manufacturing partners.
• Collaborate with Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Solid Form, Oligo, and Separations teams.
• Communicate research results in team meetings and CMC sections of INDs.
• Interact with CROs/CMOs as project needs evolve, including travel.
• Initiate innovative research to improve fundamental understanding and control.
• Represent Biogen externally in consortia and conferences.
• Mentor and prepare future leaders.
