Job summary

Biogen is seeking a Principal Scientist, Chemistry to lead development efforts for small molecule manufacturing. You will drive process understanding, optimization, and transfer to manufacturing partners while mentoring teams and enabling regulatory filings.

You will collaborate across Analytical Chemistry, Process Chemistry, Formulation, and Oligo groups to ensure robust, scalable processes for clinical and commercial materials.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• MS with 10+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings.
• BS with 12+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings.
• Strong background in pharmaceutical chemistry, including route scouting, mechanistic experiments, and tech transfer protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead collaborative development for manufacturing teams to optimize processes and improve robustness and productivity.
• Design and lead experimental plans to advance Biogen portfolio and drug candidates.
• Mentor staff and promote use of key laboratory instrumentation.
• Support transition of processes from lab to manufacturing partners and enable regulatory filings.
