Principal Scientist / Associate Director Translational Informatics

Introduction to role:

We are seeking a visionary Head of Translational Informatics to lead efforts in integrating multi-modal data for biomarker development, target discovery, and drug re-purposing strategies. As part of Alexion’s Bioinformatics and Data Sciences team, you will drive innovation through AI/ML, bioinformatics, and real-world data applications, collaborating across functions to deliver transformative insights.

Accountabilities:
  1. Lead the Translational Informatics function and develop a data strategy for biomarker discovery, patient stratification, and therapeutic insights.
  2. Collaborate with preclinical and clinical teams to translate omics, preclinical, and clinical data into hypotheses.
  3. Develop AI/ML models for target discovery, drug re-purposing, and predictive analytics.
  4. Build collaborations across research, clinical, regulatory, and commercial teams to align strategies.
  5. Represent the company in external scientific forums and consortia.
  6. Stay current with scientific literature and integrate new insights and technologies.
Essential Skills/Experience:
  • PhD or equivalent in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, AI/ML, Genomics, Systems Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in pharma, biotech, or academia focusing on translational research and informatics.
  • Strong understanding of human genetics, molecular biology, pathways, and networks.
  • Expertise in AI/ML methods for biomedical data analysis and interpretation.
  • Experience in drug re-purposing using computational approaches.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-omics datasets, clinical trial data, and RWD.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in rare diseases is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of knowledge graphs, network biology, or causal inference is a plus.
  • Experience with clinical data integration and analysis.
