Job summary

Blue River Technology seeks a Principal Robotics Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and architectural vision on the Robotics Team. You will lead the design, development, and execution of complex software systems for our autonomous platforms.

As a key technical authority, you will work across multiple Deere groups to guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and deliver robust, safety-critical software that advances vehicle autonomy and data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, incl. 4+ years in a Principal or Staff-level capacity within robotics or related fields.
• Expert in modern C++ and Python on Linux.
• Proficient with ROS/ROS 2 and core robotics domains (motion planning, robotics, localization, etc.).
• Experience with multi-threaded C++ applications and hardware interfaces (sensors, actuators).
• Ability to architect high-level systems and troubleshoot hardware-software integration edge cases.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication with engineering, product, and leadership teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and execution of autonomous software systems for Blue River platforms.
• Drive architectural vision and software engineering practices across robotics initiatives.
• Architect and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant software systems.
• Collaborate with robotics, perception, ML, hardware, and product teams to define requirements.
• Champion software quality through testing, CI, and production deployment practices.
• Mentor engineers across senior, mid, and junior levels.
