Blue River Technology in Santa Clara, CA, is seeking a Principal Robotics Engineer to serve as a senior technical authority on the robotics stack for our autonomous construction program. You will own localization, planning, controls, and safeguarding architectures, and be accountable for the bets that determine field success.

This role requires 10+ years in robotics or related industries, strong software skills in compiled languages, and the ability to shape architecture across teams.

• Architected and shipped autonomous systems in production.
• Strong systems thinking and broad technical judgment across multiple domains.
• Cross-team architecture influence beyond the immediate team.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive to a result without a predefined spec.
• Strong software skills with production code in compiled languages.

Responsibilities

• Define the engineering strategy and technical roadmap for the robotics stack of Blue River’s autonomous construction program.
• Make build-vs-reuse-vs-buy decisions on critical subsystems and drive them to execution.
• Design safeguarding systems and safety architectures for heavy autonomous equipment.
• Collaborate with mechatronics, platform, and field operations teams on integration, bring-up, and field validation.
• Mentor and elevate the engineers around you.
