Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Principal/Sr. Principal Research Scientist (Levels 3–4) in Promontory, UT to lead analytical method development and problem solving in an R&D lab.

You will apply chromatography and spectrometry techniques to complex materials, communicate results clearly to internal and external customers, and collaborate across teams. Responsibilities include supervising method development, data interpretation, and presenting conclusions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with 5 years of professional experience, OR Master’s with 3 years, OR PhD with 1 year
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
• Hands-on experience with chromatography and/or spectrometry instrumentation and data analysis (ICP experience strongly preferred)
• Strong communication skills to explain analytical results to diverse stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Serve as chromatography/spectrometry SME for an R&D analytical laboratory
• Develop, validate, and optimize analytical methods using chromatographic and spectrometric techniques (ICP)
• Troubleshoot analytical instruments and methods to ensure high-quality data
• Interpret data and solve complex materials and process problems
• Coordinate analytical work through multiple organizations and laboratories
• Prepare and present data, conclusions, and recommendations to customers
