Synthesia is the world-leading AI video platform focused on human-centric avatar video generation. We are seeking a Principal Research Engineer (L7) to own the full tech stack for offline video generation, partnering with research leadership to define long-term strategy and drive cross-team collaboration to ship models at scale.

You will mentor senior and junior researchers, tackle hard cross-cutting challenges, and push the boundaries of what is possible in video generation, ensuring research

Qualifications

• Proven track record training large-scale video generation models from scratch across multiple nodes.
• Experience with large-scale distributed training budgets and multi-million hour data pipelines.
• Experience applying RLHF, GRPO, DPO in video or multimodal contexts.
• Ability to think strategically about long-term research direction while hands-on at the frontier.
• Strong cross-functional influence without relying on positional authority.
• Leadership style grounded in technical involvement with a focus on shipping products.

Responsabilités

• Own end-to-end technical direction for offline video generation, spanning pre-training and post-training.
• Define a unified long-term roadmap with achievable objectives, and drive execution.
• Identify critical gaps across the video generation pipeline and unblock them.
• Increase velocity from research to product with better handoffs and visibility.
• Coach and elevate junior researchers and engineers toward senior thinking.
• Help shape team structure and processes for high-velocity, cohesive execution.
