Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and implement embedded real-time software for radar and sensor systems. You will contribute to system-of-systems architecture and collaborate across disciplines in a DoD context.

You will work with senior architects, participate in PDR/CDR, and mentor junior engineers. This onsite role requires residency in McKinney with potential travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with large-scale system-of-systems architecture and interfaces.
• Proficiency with real-time software development and C++.
• Experience with modeling tools (Cameo or Enterprise Architect) and MOSA standards.

Responsibilities

• Function as a senior technical contributor who reviews work and influences policies.
• Provide systems thinking and architecture support toward PDR.
• Collaborate with senior architects in a fast-moving environment with minimal oversight.
• Drive technical clarity across sensor integrations via system-of-systems concepts.
• Communicate decisions across engineering teams, customers, and vendors.
• Architect, implement, test, and debug embedded real-time software.
• Participate in major design reviews, including PDR and CDR.
• Mentor less experienced engineers.
• Occasional travel up to 5%.
