Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead technical and design efforts for large-scale transit projects in the Seattle region, with emphasis on rail systems integration and multidisciplinary design delivery.

The role requires extensive leadership of multidisciplinary teams, stakeholder coordination with transit agencies and regulators, and mentoring of staff while supporting business development and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience delivering major transportation, transit, rail, or infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain Washington State licensure within a reasonable timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and design leadership for major transit and rail infrastructure programs from planning to implementation.
• Lead multidisciplinary design delivery across guideways, stations, structures, utilities, track, power, signaling, and systems integration.
• Mentor, develop, and provide technical leadership to engineering and design staff across project teams.
• Support pursuit and business development activities, including client engagement and strategic growth initiatives.
