Job summary

GlobalFoundries is seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff for the Quantum Photonics Modality Integration in GF Labs and Quantum Technology Solutions, based in Malta, NY. Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, Photonics, Materials Science, or related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in photonic device development, quantum photonics, semiconductor R&D, or advanced technology integration.
• Leadership in integrated photonics, nanophotonics, quantum emitters, quantum optics, or quantum hardware development.
• Experience developing photonic integrated circuits using silicon photonics, silicon nitride, III-V photonics, lithium niobate, or related platforms.
• Deep knowledge of device simulation tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL, HFSS, MEEP, or equivalent.
• Strong record of technical innovation including publications, patents, technology transfers, and external leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of GF's photonic quantum hardware roadmap, integration strategy, and technology maturation plans.
• Define manufacturable process flows for quantum photonic integrated circuits, quantum emitters, single-photon sources, detectors, modulators, resonators, and optical interconnects.
• Drive integration of advanced material systems including SiN, AlN, Al2O3, lithium niobate, III-V materials, quantum dots, color centers, and heterogeneous photonic platforms.
• Develop scalable approaches for quantum emitter integration, photon routing, entanglement distribution, and photonic quantum networking architectures.
• Lead cross-functional teams spanning device engineering, process integration, metrology, design enablement, packaging, characterization, and manufacturing.
• Interface directly with strategic quantum computing customers, university partners, national laboratories, and ecosystem collaborators.
• Establish technology metrics, yield-learning methodologies, reliability plans, and manufacturing readiness criteria.
• Mentor technical staff and provide thought leadership through publications, conferences, patents, and customer presentations.
