Job summary

The Timken Company is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead or support global Quality Management Systems ensuring product safety and quality. The role trains plant Quality teams and collaborates across manufacturing and technology centers to resolve customer quality concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and assure Quality Management Systems globally for assigned locations and projects.
  • Coach and mentor to build a self-sufficient Quality Management team at locations and projects.
  • Assure appropriate gauging methods and asset process capability with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain industry certifications (ISO9000, AS9100, IATF, NADCAP, etc.).
  • Execute customer approvals and certifications as required.
  • Lead audits and ensure Timken compliance to requirements.
  • Lead or support continuous improvements projects.

Purpose :

This role will lead or support the development of essential Quality Management Systems to ensure product safety and quality. The position will train plant Quality teams and identify best practices for global implementation. Additionally, it will support or lead resolution of customer-facing quality issues or broader cross-organizational quality concerns. Success in this role requires effective collaboration in a matrix organization through participation in cross-functional projects spanning all global areas of operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and assure Timken maintains suitable, adequate, and effective Quality Management Systems globally for assigned locations and projects
  • Help drive a quality culture and protect the Timken brand by teaching, coaching and mentoring to build a self-sufficient Quality Management team for assigned locations and projects
  • Assure that installed gauging methods are appropriate and effective, and that installed assets have acceptable process capability through interaction with the Manufacturing Advancement, Manufacturing, and Technology Center teams.
  • Assist in maintaining required industry specific certifications (eg ISO9000, AS9100, IATF, NADCAP, etc.)
  • Execute customer approvals and certifications as required
  • Achieve Timken brand approval, by demonstrating compliance to Business and Quality systems, demonstrated process capability for key processes, adherence to dimensional specifications, appropriate material selection, acceptable product marking, evidence of Outgoing Quality Audit, and appropriate product performance level determined (bearing rating)
  • Lead audits and ensure Timken compliance to requirements
  • Develop, lead, or support continuous improvements projects as assigned.
Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with Manufacturing Process Design, Gauge design, Quality System
  • Experience with Training and Brand Certification
Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science or related field with 7+ years of experience
  • Masters Degree in Engineering, Science or related field with 5+ years of experience

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data ("CTD") and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).
